Why Choose ACC?

We know it's hard for you to decide among thousands of colleges. It's even more difficult to make the decision to attend a private college, with higher tuition costs and perhaps a greater distance from home. But here's why ACC might be a great choice for you:

  1. You want to grow spiritually, as well as academically and socially. At ACC, our emphasis on the Christian faith can’t be missed. Students attend chapel and vespers services and are active in local churches. They participate in discipleship groups, residence hall devotions and much more. And all students either major or minor in biblical studies. You’ll leave ACC, diploma in hand, with a stronger faith than when you arrived as a first-year student.

  2. You want to experience life in a world-class city. Our campus is located in East Point, Ga. – a short 10-minute drive from the heart of downtown Atlanta, the most vibrant and diverse major city in the South. Enjoy museums, theaters, concert halls, professional sports teams, and attractions like the Georgia Aquarium. East Point itself is experiencing a renaissance of growth and development. And the beautiful mountains of north Georgia are less than two hours away.

  3. You want to be part of a community. Attending ACC gives you the opportunity to live and study in a major metropolitan area – yet the campus is a small, close-knit community of believers who support and encourage one another.

  4. You want to be more than “just a number.” Yes, there are advantages to attending a large, public university. But some of those advantages are offset by the lack of personal attention. At ACC, you’ll never attend class in an auditorium so large the professor can’t see you raise your hand. Our classes are small, so you build relationships with your professors. They’ll know who you are and how you learn; they’ll help you succeed in their classes and beyond. And 15 years from now, you’ll probably still be sending them Christmas cards.

  5. You want to be challenged. ACC’s faculty and degree programs are of top quality – you’ll graduate with the skills and knowledge you need for your chosen career or ministry.

  6. You want to be involved. It’s tough to hide on a small campus like ours, so there’s no doubt you’ll end up joining one or more campus organizations. And the fact that ACC is small means you have a better chance of reaching leadership positions than at a larger school. Where else can you play a varsity sport, sing in an audition-only choral group, and represent your class in student government, all in four short years?

  7. You want to travel the globe. Opportunities for summer and holiday-break mission trips abound at ACC. And all ACC students are required to complete a Significant Cross-Cultural Experience before graduation, meaning you could travel with fellow students and faculty or staff members to build houses in Mexico, to do campus ministry in Europe or South America, to work with children in Africa… the possibilities are endless.

  8. You’re not sure you can afford a private college. That’s okay – most students and their families worry about that when considering ACC. Let us reassure you! Approximately 95 percent of ACC students received some form of financial aid in 2008-09. The grants, scholarships and loans available to you can make private-college tuition affordable; you can contact our financial aid office and have them explain the process.

  9. You’ve decided that being well-rounded might be a good thing after all. You’ve probably been hearing it for years from your parents and teachers, but now you think they may have been on to something. Well, choosing ACC pretty much guarantees you’ll be a well-rounded person when you graduate. At some colleges and universities, you would focus on your major coursework from the beginning, resulting in a highly specialized education. But here, you will take courses in a variety of areas, participate in service and worship, and have the freedom to go in any direction you choose after college.

  10. We want you here. The ACC family is warm, welcoming and inviting. We would love to have you visit our campus, and we would love to see you choose ACC. How can we help?
