Business
Our Purpose
The need for Christian business leaders has never been greater than it is today. ACC graduates with a major in business administration are equipped to go out into their chosen fields and demonstrate not only an exemplary knowledge of business practices and principles, but also a firm foundation in Christian principles.
At ACC, business students know that their professors care about them personally and academically. Professors who not only have outstanding education and experience credentials, but also are active in a local church congregation, teach our students. By providing a caring, professional, Christian example, professors can influence the lives of students in a more meaningful way. The Department of Business has as a goal to maintain its reputation for graduating students with proper morals, values and ethics. Achievement of this goal provides the ACC graduate with a more balanced life, and with greater employability as companies seek to hire well-rounded ethical managers.
Our Program
Although the field of business is broad, the Department of Business assists students in selecting the career direction that best fits their own desires and abilities. The business program is designed to provide each student with the opportunity to concentrate elective hours in a specific business discipline. For example, the 54 hours of professional studies courses required for the B.S. in business administration includes nine hours which the student may use to take courses in one of five areas: accounting, management, marketing, and general business administration.
In addition, each student has the option to gain on-the-job work experience prior to graduation through a business internship program. The internship allows students to apply knowledge gained through coursework to the practical demands of a business environment. In the process, students learn much about themselves and their career aspirations.
Your Career and Ministry
Graduates of ACC with a B.S. or B.A. in business administration are prepared to assume a variety of positions in corporate, private, government and nonprofit organizations, and are prepared to pursue graduate studies in various business disciplines. Graduates with an A.A. in business administration are engaged in entry-level management positions, secretarial positions and baccalaureate-level study.
The Department of Business provides broad preparation for the Christian to lead and serve effectively in business and society, offering three degree programs: the associate of arts, the bachelor of arts and the bachelor of science. Students pursuing the B.A. and B.S. degrees may choose to emphasize accounting, management, marketing or general business administration.
